Academics & the CBC Curriculum

St. Christopher's follows Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum from Kindergarten through Junior Secondary, a rigorous curriculum that integrates modern teaching methods with traditional values.

What Is CBC?

Competencies, Not Just Content

The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is Kenya’s national curriculum, structured to move learning beyond memorisation and toward practical skills, critical thinking and values. It spans Early Years, Primary and Junior Secondary, with learners assessed continuously on what they can do, not only on what they can recall.

At St. Christopher’s, our curriculum is meticulously designed to strike a balance between this modern approach and the time-tested values of traditional education, with customised learning approaches, interactive workshops, and ongoing assessment at every level.

Exam Results & Leavers’ Destinations

Our students sit the national CBC assessments at Grade 6 (KPSEA) and Grade 9 (KJSEA), and leave St. Christopher’s well prepared for the next stage of their education, whether that’s Senior School locally or further study abroad. For current results, leavers’ destinations, or how our assessment approach works year to year, our academic office is happy to share the details.
